winning a Queens Award for Enterprise
- the UKs highest accolade for business
success. Among those honoured are DR Rami
Ranger MBE, Founder of SunMark which has been
awarded an unprecented fifth consecutive Queen's
Award and Dr Kartar Lalvani OBE (pictured
left) of vitamins manufacturer Vitabiotics
recognised with an Innovation award.

| Rami Ranger wins the IOD 'Director
of the Year' Award |
Dr.
Rami Ranger MBE, FRSA, Managing Director of
Sun Mark Ltd, has won the Institute of Directors'
(IOD) 'Director of the Year 2012 - Large Company'
Award for London and the South East. He collected
his award at a ceremony held at the Landmark
Hotel in London on 19th April 2013. Sun Mark
Ltd exports FMCG products to 110 countries.

Budget panel discussion on 21st March 2013
at the Wayra in London. Guests Sir Charles
Dunstone, Chairman and Co-founder, The Carphone
Warehouse and Sir John Parker GBE, Chairman,
Anglo American plc joined Oliver Pawle, Founder
of NEF to consider whether "the Chancellor's
Spring Budget 2013 will be helpful in kick-starting
the UK economy".

Office Minister welcomes multi-billion dollar
Gujarat gas deal |
Foreign
Office Minister Hugo Swire welcomed one of
the largest UK-India trade deals following
a 20 year agreement to supply Liquefied Natural
Gas to Gujarat. Speaking in Gujarat yesterday
at the signing of an agreement between the
BG Group and the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation
Limited for the long-term sale of Liquefied
Natural Gas, Mr Swire welcomed the agreement,
saying: "this deal is great news for
the companies".

£1.1 million to build British Business
Centres in India |
UK
Trade & Investment Minister, Lord Green,
today (15th March 2013) announced that the
government would invest over £1.1million
in a new, business-led pan-India network of
British Business Centres to be set up and
run by the UK India Business Council (UKIBC).
This is part of a global initiative to strengthen
British business networks in 20 overseas markets.

acquires £6 million site in Greenford
for a new distribution centre |
Greenford-based
fast moving consumer goods company Sun Mark
Ltd, founded by Dr Rami Ranger MBE, has acquired
a £6 million site - near its current
operation - on which to build a new distribution
centre. The company plans to construct a 100,000
sq ft state-of-the-art distribution centre
with parking, covered vehicle bays and additional
office space. A further investment of £5
million will be required to complete the build
by 2015.

MP lauded the contribution of Britain's 50,000
Asian-owned businesses at the launch of the
National Asian Business Association (NABA)
on Monday 4th March 2013 in London. Dr Cable
highlighted the £60 billion turnover
contribution of Asian-owned businesses and
commended the family business model for bringing
stability during a time of economic turbulence.

launches £1 million fund for creative
entrepreneurs |
Not-for-profit
network and business incubator MeWe360 launched
a new £1million venture fund for entrepreneurs
in the arts and creative industries on Wednesday
27th February 2013. Targeted at women, black
and Asian cultural entrepreneurs, the aim
is identify and develop creative talent from
around the country and incubate associated
new businesses. Through the venture arm MeWe360
will invest up to £200,000 in five promising
new projects.

education needs to be boosted |
Between
15% and 20% of students who participate in
a mini-company programme in school will later
start their own company, a figure that is
about three to six times of that of the general
population. Investing in education for entrepreneurship
is one of the highest return investments policy-makers
in Europe can make to support growth and business
creation. Yet, according to a recent Eurobarometer
Entrepreneurship survey three quarters of
Europeans say that they have never taken part
in an entrepreneurship course.

Loans launches 1000th Young Entrepreneur |
Start
up Loans, the £112 million Government
scheme created to help young people to start
their own business, has now supported its
1000th young entrepreneur. When the Prime
Minister announced an extension of the Start-Up
Loans initiative on the 3rd of January this
year, 500 businesses had received start up
loans and free mentoring in the last 5 months
of 2012. In the first 5 weeks of 2013 another
500 business have been launched.

could play crucial role in economic recovery |
With
the number of female business owners still
trailing levels seen amongst their male counterparts,
a new research report from Barclays Wealth
Management finds that women are much better
represented amongst high net worth business
owners. The pay gap is also reversed with
males trailing their female entrepreneurial
counterparts by 14% - £327,000 annual
income compared to £382,000.

million boost as start-up loans for young
entrepreneurs scheme expanded |
A
£30 million boost to the Governments
Start-Up Loans scheme has been announced by
the Prime Minister today (3rd January 2013)
to give the next generation of entrepreneurs
the finance to start their own business. The
Prime Minister also announced that the age
limit for application will now be extended
from 24 to 30 years old.

'Groundhog Year' for the UK economy? |
In
his New Year message, IPPRs Chief Economist,
Tony Dolphin, said that the outlook for the
UK economy in 2013 is for another year of
sluggish growth with uncertainty
over recovery and the Eurozone crisis continuing
to dominate. He said 2012 was the year that
time stood still and that 2013
looks much like 2012, dubbing it a potential
groundhog year.
