Journalist and photographer Shekhar Bhatia launched his 'Brown Brits' exhibition today (2nd May 2013), hosted by Roast founder Iqbal Wahhab OBE and actress Meera Syal MBE, at Roast Restaurant in London. Attended by over 100 guests including many of the well-known British Asians featured in this exhibition like music producer Rishi Rich (far left) and broadcaster Mihir Bose, the exhibition runs until October 2013 at the same venue.

Top 100 Most Influential Asians List Unveiled at The Asian Awards

Actor Sir Ben Kingsley, singer Nicole Scherzinger, Japanese race car driver Kamui Kobayashi, industrialist Adi Godrej, businessman Jiang Jinquing, author Hanif Khureishi and Hollywood legend Bruce Lee were among those honoured at The Asian Awards on Tuesday 16th April 2013 at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The world's first Top 100 Most Influential Asians list was also launched on the evening.

Women Empowered network encourages more women into politics

Reena Ahuja and Mona Remtulla, co-founders of the Women Empowered network, held their first event of the year on 24th January 2013 to encourage more women into national and local politics. Speakers Priti Patel MP, Cllr Mimi Harker OBE and Cllr Lurline Champagnie spoke of their own careers and experiences in standing for election. Traditionally regarded as male dominated or controlled profession; they debated the issue of "Is it still a man's world"?

Mughal Nites Party to mark the opening of the 'Mughal India' exhibition

The South Asian Literature Festival 2012 culminated in a closing panel discussing 'Makings of an Empire: Mark of the Mughals on South Asia' on Friday 9th November at the British Library in London. As the date also marked the opening of the British Library's new 'Mughal India' exhibition, over 900 attendees were treated to a special 'Mughal Nites' party hosted by DJ Ritu and Kuch Kuch entertainment.

The London-based City Hindus Network (CHN) held its annual Diwali Dinner for over 100 guests at the Courthouse DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in London on Friday 2nd November 2012. In their speeches, CHN Advisory Board Members Punam Denley, Alpesh Patel and Nishma Gosrani outlined the network's successes and special Diwali greeting messages were given by Vikram Goyal of sponsors Unesta and Arjan Vekaria on behalf of the Hindu Forum of Britain.

Simon Collins, UK Chairman, and Nina Amin, Partner at KPMG, hosted a celebration of Asian Festivals on Monday 29th October 2012 in London. Guests included some of the wealthiest Asians in the UK including: Lord Gulam Noon, Gopichand Hinduja (pictured left with Nina Amin), Vijay & Bhikhu Patel of Waymade, hotelier Surinder Arora and a host of well-known Asian business people.

The tenth Asian Music Awards took place on 25th October 2012. Bollywood legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan led the winners, taking home three awards for Best-Selling Download, Best International Act and Best International Act of the Decade. Brit sensation, Jay Sean was hot on Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s heels with two awards for British Artist of the Decade and Best Male. DJ Neev Spencer (pictured left) won the 'Best Radio Show' award for her Kiss 100 programme.

UK's Richest Man Honoured at The Sikh Awards 2012

The UK's richest man, industrialist Lakshmi Mittal received a Special Recognition Award at The Sikh Awards, held at The Park Plaza Hotel, London on Sunday 21st October 2012. The Awards, hosted by former Mayoral advisor Mr Kulveer Ranger and model Ms Anu Singh (pictured left), recognised Sikh contribution and excellence in a variety of fields from around the world.

The Institute of Directors (IOD) India hosted the annual Golden Peacock Awards in recognition of excellence in corporate governance and sustainability on 11th October at the Marylebone Cricket Club Lord's Ground in London during the London Global Convention 2012. The awards were presented by The Rt Hon. Eric Pickles MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
