Asian Women of Achievement Awards 2015 Shortlist Announced

30th March 2015

The Asian Women of Achievement Awards are pleased to announce the full shortlist for their 2015 Awards, celebrating some of the most extraordinary Asian women in Britain. The Awards, now in their 16th year, cut across UK business, entrepreneurs, sports, culture and community impact, recognising both high-achieving and high-potential women. This year’s shortlist includes a national TV star, a global best-selling author, the niece of Jimmy Choo and the first Asian woman to win MasterChef.

Shortlisted in the Entrepreneur category is Renu Kapur, Founder and CEO of X-Forces. Her social enterprise was set up to help ex-service men and women establish their own businesses. Since November 2013, X-Forces has helped to launch over 300 British ex-service entrepreneurs, lending support, advice and over £3.3m.

Representing champions in inclusion and diversity, Sevasti Wong, Managing Director at Accenture, has had a huge impact with her #DaretoShare video campaign, catalysing conversations around topics historically considered taboo or too difficult to share.

And at 28-years old, Joanne Sui is one of the youngest candidates to make the shortlist. She is a Civil Engineer at London Bridge Associates working on London’s ‘super-sewer’, the Thames Tideway Tunnel. She is heavily involved with the British Tunnelling Society Committee, a London Bridge Associates Ambassador for London Excellence and is a founding member of London Excellence Aspiring Professionals.

Pinky Lilani OBE DL, Founder, Asian Women of Achievement Awards said, “Narrowing down the nominations to a shortlist of just 50 people has been particularly difficult this year as there have been so many outstanding women put forward. It is so inspiring to see how many women are making waves within big business as well as stepping out on their own, directing their energies to help challenge stereotypes within their communities.”
