Delhi 41 takes International Restaurant of the Year title again!
Delhi 41, based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, has retained the title of International Restaurant of the Year for the fourth year running – a new record at the Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards. Speaking at the awards, Azmular Rahman, Manager of Delhi 41 said: “Every year we look forward to the competition to make sure we’re doing the right thing. The Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards are the benchmark of our success to ensure we’re continuing to do things well.”
Opened in June 2011 by the Lord Mayor of Chesterfield Borough Council, the Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant has won International Restaurant category every single year since its introduction to the awards line up in 2013. Offering a full takeaway menu as well as dining in, Delhi 41 also boasts the capability to cater for corporate entertainment and private functions.
Alongside Delhi 41, 11 other food and drink establishments, producers and individuals were named as winners at the sell-out awards ceremony for the 2017 Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards. Hosted by celebrity Mich Turner MBE, cake maker to the stars, the awards are highly coveted.
The Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards are organised by Destination Chesterfield, in association with Chesterfield College. More than 100 hospitality students prepare and serve the lavish two course meal on the evening for 250 guests, giving them real life exposure to the world for which they are training.
Julie Richards, Principal of Chesterfield College said: “Congratulations to everyone who was nominated as a finalist for the Food and Drink Awards this year and well done to all the winners. It is an honour for the college to play such a big part in this celebration of the local food and drink industry. It is a highlight in our calendar, providing a fantastic opportunity to showcase the college’s catering and hospitality department and to develop the skills of the students who take part in the preparation of the food and the hospitality for the evening.”
Dominic Stevens, Destination Chesterfield Manager, commented: “As ever, the Food and Drink Awards were a tremendous success. Chesterfield’s thriving food and drink scene is really making it tougher to narrow down the ever growing list of nominations each year, so congratulations to everybody nominated, shortlisted, and of course the winners. Events like this are central in keeping the local economy, particularly the hospitality sector, growing, so a big thanks to everybody involved.”
